The Vineyard: The heart of the winery. This is where the magic first begins. Without a quality grape, you can’t have quality wines, and this is what is important to us. Our Motto: Nebraska Wine…Redefined. We strive to make a quality wine that you can proudly share with your friends.
Capitol View Winery & Vineyards grows Frontenac and LaCrosse grapes on site with other cold climate Nebraska grapes incorporated in our winery to round out our full range of impeccable wines. All of our vintages are made and bottled right here on site. We offer a variety of wines for all palates, ranging from dry reds to sweet whites and blushes.
Capitol View boasts one of the most experienced winemakers in the state. Ed Swanson, our Winemaker, was the first winemaker in Nebraska, and has over 30 years of grape growing and winemaking experience. Ed is well-known in the winemaking industry and is a huge asset to the wine industry as a whole, especially to the Nebraska winemaking industry and to Capitol View Winery & Vineyards.
These photos take a behind the scenes look into our vineyard management each season. The first few photos are of Ed grafting his hybrids. We begin pruning in March, then as the season warms the vines bud and soon grape clusters appear! They are harvested in August and then the vines will go dormat in the Winter. We love answering questions about the winemaking process, so when you are out for a tasting, just ask away!
